A history of electronic synthesizers cannot be complete without talking about ARP 2600. This keyboard was produced from 1970 until 1981. Exactly like the MiniMoog. This ARP synthesizer was in direct competition with Moog. Whereas the MiniMoog was produced in a total quantity of 13, 000, only 3000 of these keyboards were produced. Making this a very rare beast to find today. The list of famous musicians who have played this keyboard is long and varied.
The keyboard folds up into a suitcase therefore making it easy to transport. Similar to a modular Moog, this keyboard uses patch cords to connect different oscillators and settings. I have never seen one in real life but I hope to someday. I've never seen one on sale on eBay but sooner or later one should crop up. This keyboard was produced with two color schemes. Either black and orange and red, or black and blue.
As I learn more about this keyboard, I will post information here. I am very curious as this is one of the most historic keyboards of all.
